Ben Foster has just revealed why Wrexham are more 'special' than Manchester United

Wrexham are preparing for their opening fixture of the 2025-26 campaign as they face Melbourne Victory in Australia.

Wrexham’s 30-man squad for the tour down under will get their first opportunity at gaining some valuable minutes ahead of what will be a gruelling campaign.

The tour is a chance for the club to reach out to new fans across the globe and Wrexham will be visiting Sydney and New Zealand along the way.

Wrexham’s new home kit has been unveiled and as part of the launch former goalkeeper Ben Foster has travelled out to Australia for some community work for the club. He has just revealed why he believes the Red Dragons are the most ‘special’ club he has encountered in his career.

“I’m looking forward to heading out to Australia, it’s the type of trip people only get to do once in their lifetime so I’m really looking forward to it.

“We want to share how this really special football club likes to do things; we take our football seriously, but we like to do it with a smile on our face.”

Foster enjoyed a spectacular career before his retirement in 2023 and played in the Premier League with Manchester United and West Brom, whilst also earning eight caps for England.

Ben Foster believes Wrexham face a tough challenge in the Championship

Whilst the Wrexham players will enjoy their experience on the pre-season tour, they are there to prepare for their toughest test yet during the Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney era.

Foster has predicted a tough season for Wrexham as they adjust to life in the second tier of English football for the first time since 1982.

Some good performances and results in Australia and New Zealand are Phil Parkinson’s first objectives and then he will be looking to build from there.
