Manchester United’s summer transfer window is becoming increasingly frustrating as rivals make recruitment look simple.
This summer started fast for the Red Devils.
Matheus Cunha joined on June 1st, the earliest signing the club has made in over a decade, which gave Manchester United supporters false confidence for the remainder of the transfer window.
Since then, there hasn’t been a single signing apart from the pre-arranged deals to sign Diego Leon and Enzo Kana-Biyik. Jason Wilcox and the recruitment staff have been slow acting, taking over one month negotiating over small details to sign Bryan Mbeumo.
This means pre-season has begun with just one new signing, as Ineos are letting Ruben Amorim down after the Portuguese head coach has shown full faith in the project.
Making matters worse is Tottenham completing two signings in two days, with Mohammed Kudus and Morgan Gibbs-White both arriving for a combined £115m.
However, the summer could still end in success.

How Viktor Gyokeres feels about joining Manchester United
Another club making big moves this summer is Arsenal, with the Gunners set to sign Noni Madueke from Chelsea imminently for a fee north of £50m.
Arsenal were also looking set to win the race to sign Viktor Gyokeres this summer from Sporting CP, with the striker preferring to join Mikel Arteta’s side due to the presence of Champions League football.
However, United have been handed a Gyokeres lifeline with Arsenal’s talks stalling over the past few days. It was reported that Arsenal and Sporting couldn’t agree on the guaranteed fee, leading to doubts over whether the deal could still come off.

Now, speaking with The United Stand, Ben Jacobs has revealed Gyokeres’ thoughts over potentially joining United this summer if Arsenal falls through.
The journalist claims that Gyokeres remains open to joining United this summer, despite the lack of Champions League football.
There are currently no talks over a deal, with United likely dedicated to Mbeumo and also selling players before looking elsewhere for a striker.
Manchester United and Ruben Amorim will struggle to refuse Viktor Osimhen
United have long wanted to sign a new striker this summer, with goals last season proving very difficult to come by.
Due to this, the attack has been prioritised, and if Gyokeres is available and looking for a move once United make some sales, then Ineos will struggle to say no to the Swede.
Amorim has been in contact with Gyokeres over the move, and this certainly implies that all parties are open to a move if it suits.
Sporting want £68m to sell Gyokeres, which is a hefty demand, with United certainly unable to afford that right now.
