David Moyes is in desperate need of a new right-back this summer.

Everton’s pursuit of Kenny Tete ended in vain as the Dutchman renewed his contract with Fulham.

Therefore, the Toffees remain with Jake O’Brien, who is not a natural right-back, and an ageing Seamus Coleman.

As a result, Moyes has continued to search for a solution to this issue in the market, with Everton now eyeing a move for Georgios Vagiannidis.

Everton plan to swoop in for Sporting CP target Vagiannidis

Everton have been linked with Vagiannidis earlier this year after an impressive season at Panathinaikos.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The 23-year-old has shone in Super League Greece and could now make the next step up in his career.

According to A Bola, page 32 (11 July), Sporting CP are interested in buying the Greek international and met with the player’s representatives on Monday.

However, talks are not advancing, which has given Everton an opening to swoop in.

Panathinaikos are asking for around £13 million for the right-back, a fee that the Toffees can reach.

It is also believed that an Italian side is in the race for Vagiannidis, with the fee also not being an issue.

Vagiannidis would be a smart buy for Everton

With a right-back needed, Vagiannidis would be a smart buy for Everton.

Costing around £13m, the Toffees would get an international player who has plenty of potential to grow into a star at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

As a result, Moyes must ensure that Vagiannidis is an Everton player by the end of the window.

For the current asking price, it is simply an opportunity that the Toffees cannot ignore, especially with their current issues in this position.

Hopefully, an official offer will be made over the coming weeks, ready for the first Premier League game of the season against Leeds United.
