Marschall, 22, spent last season with Crewe Alexandra. He made 51 appearances in all competitions for the Railwaymen, 46 of which came in the league.

In this latest update regarding his situation by Football League World, the Valiants have made a bid for him. They are in the hunt for some more reinforcements this summer.

Darren Moore has shared this update regarding his team’s pre-season plans, as per BBC Sport: “The slate’s been wiped clean from last season and we build again. We need to push more, we need to ask more questions of everybody in League One and the group’s prepared for that. Mentally, we know we’ve got to give more and physically. It’s about being aligned. We understand where we are and where we need to get to and that that will need a lot of hard work.”

He added: “I spoke to the group and said the work that everyone put in last season was fantastic but the same level of effort for this season won’t do. We need more.”

The Cambridge-born man is unlikely to break into Aston Villa’s first-team anytime soon. Therefore, another temporary exit would suit him.

Marschall has been with the Midlands outfit since 2018 and has since risen up through their ranks. He has been a regular for them at various different youth levels.

He was loaned out for the first time to Gateshead in 2022 and ended up having two separate stints in the North East. The stopper has since had a spell at MK Dons, as well as Crewe Alexandra.

What now for Port Vale?

Port Vale need to ensure that they get their recruitment right in this window. PVFC were promoted from the fourth tier along with Doncaster Rovers, Bradford City and AFC Wimbledon and must be ready for the step up a division.

Marschall caught the eye at Crewe Alexandra last term and should now test himself in the league above. He is still young and has potential to develop down the line.

Moore’s men have delved into the market over recent times to bring in the likes of Jordan Shipley, Ben Waine and Cameron Humphreys, among others. They have the chance to get some more new faces in over the next couple of months.
