The Premier League is comprised of 20 teams all with very different ambitions and identities. Some have been around for the entirety of the division's history, while others are still relatively new to life in the top flight. Some are content just staying above water and avoiding relegation, othes aren't afraid to aim high and spend big to try and reach the top.
There's so much that goes into each team, though, that it's hard to summarise them all with just one word. Still, we asked AI to do just that and some of the answers are incredible. Let's take a look at how AI described every single Premier League team with just one word.
1-5
AFC Bournemouth, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Brentford & Brighton & Hove Albion
Going in alphabetical order, let's start with AFC Bournemouth. The Cherries have gone from strength to strength since their return to the Premier League and Andoni Iraola has put together a solid side. AI described them as feisty, likely in reference to their knack for taking things to their opponents. Arsenal have been labelled hopeful, likely as a result of their three straight seasons as runners-up in the Premier League. They've come so close to finally getting their hands back on the title, but never quite got over the line. They still have faith, though.
Aston Villa have enjoyed an incredible transformation from relegation-threatened to Champions League contenders under Unai Emery. They're always looking at ways to get better and were described as aspiring by AI. Brentford have been labelled clever and it's hard to argue with that. The Bees have been operating shrewdly over the years and it's paid off. Having never played in the Premier League before their promotion in 2021, they've defied the odds time and time again with smart moves.
Another team who has played well beyond expectations in recent years is Brighton & Hove Albion. The Seagulls have done incredible work in the transfer market, recruiting relatively unknown talents and turning them into elite footballers. For their efforts, they've been called creative by AI.

Burnley, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Everton & Fulham
Freshly promoted from the Championship, Burnley have been described as gritty by AI. The Lancashire team have earned a reputation over the years for their tough, no-nonsense approach to football and they looked incredible defensively last season, so this seems like a fair summarisation. Chelsea have been labelled evolving. The Blues have been navigating some tough waters following Todd Boehly's takeover and have spent massive amounts of money trying to steady the ship since. Now, they look to finally be heading in the right direction.
Crystal Palace, fresh off their first ever major trophy win with the FA Cup have been called spirited, while AI used the word battlers to describe Everton. The Toffees spent several years fighting tooth and nail in relegation battles to avoid relegation. Under David Moyes, they've climbed up the table somewhat and will hope that isn't the case next season.
In what might be the most fitting description, Fulham have been labelled steady by AI. The Cottagers have established themselves as a solid Premier League team. They're never pulled into the relegation battles, but they also very rarely look like breaking into European contention. They're just steady.

Leeds United, Liverpool, Man United, Man City & Newcastle United
Leeds United stormed through the Championship last season and returned to the top flight after a two-year absence. The Yorkshire-based club are famous for their tough attitude and their passionate fanbase. As a result, they've been described as fiery. Liverpool were called polished, coming off of their second ever Premier League title. Arne Slot is running a well-oiled machine at Anfield and they look likely to go all the way again this time around.
Manchester City were described as dominant, which may have been the case in recent years, but last season, they actually fell short of their own standards and failed to lift a single trophy. It was a campaign where they were anything but dominant. Their local rivals, Manchester United have had some really poor seasons recently, and recorded their lowest ever Premier League finish in 2024/25. The club is undergoing major changes going forward, with a new stadium on the horizon and a promising new manager. So, AI labelled them as transitioning, which feels very fitting.
The final team in this section is Newcastle United. The Magpies were taken over by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund in 2021 and they were quick to go right at the top teams in England with their newfound backing. They brought quality players like Bruno Guimaraes through the doors and recently ended their decades-long trophy drought with the Carabao Cup. They've been described as bold and that feels about right.

Nottingham Forest, Sunderland, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United & Wolverhampton Wanderers
Nottingham Forest weren't afraid to make a big splash when they were promoted to the Premier League. They spent decades outside the top flight and were prepared to do just about anything to remain the the division once they returned and they've done just that. For that, they've been described as resilient. Another team who will be hoping to replicate their success is Sunderland. The Black Cats earned promotion through the playoffs last season, beating Sheffield United in the final at Wembley. They've wasted little time conducting excellent business in the transfer window to give themselves the best chance at staying up. AI clearly likes their chances too, calling them promising.
After winning the Europa League and ending Tottenham Hotspur's 17-year run without silverware, Ange Postecoglou was sacked by the club and replaced with Thomas Frank. It's not the first time the club has made an eyebrow-raising decision like that. They once dismissed Jose Mourinho just days before a cup final too. AI described them as erratic and it's hard to argue.
West Ham United have fallen short of expectations in recent years. They had lofty ambitions and recruited well, but for one reason or another, things haven't quite gone to plan. Still, they've been labelled as pragmatic by AI. Finally, Wolverhampton Wanderers have been described as dogged. The midlands club have been operating just above the relegation zone for the last couple of years and whenever it looks like their time in the Premier League might be coming to an end, they claw their way to safety. Dogged seems fitting.
