Arsenal are plotting a move to sign Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze as the Eagles face up to one of their key players dropping a transfer bombshell.
The Gunners are said to be ready to make a formal bid for Eze, who has a hefty £68million release clause, after several rounds of talks with his agents at CAA Base, reports the Mirror. Despite the Eagles' confidence in warding off interest by highlighting the 27-year-old's buy-out clause, as they have no intention to negotiate below that figure, the Gunners are keen on securing Eze for a lower price.
However, they're still willing to splash the cash, having already shelled out £52m for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke. England international Eze is open to the move, and Marc Guehi could also be on his way out of Selhurst Park before the transfer deadline, as he enters the final year of his contract.
Liverpool have their eyes on Guehi, who is also admired by Newcastle, while striker Jean-Philippe Mateta is attracting interest from AC Milan.
Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande is seen as the perfect replacement for Guehi, but negotiations with the Portuguese champions have been complicated.

Diomande's release clause is a huge £69m, but Palace value the Ivory Coast international around £40m - though they would be willing to exceed that amount in what could be a record-breaking deal for the club.
Meanwhile, Colombian sensation Daniel Munoz has sent shockwaves through Crystal Palace after hinting at a potential exit despite recently signing a new deal until June 2028.
In an interview with Win Sports TV back home, the FA Cup winner and Selhurst Park favourite suggested he's ready for a fresh challenge, stating: "I want to play for the best teams in the world, but they haven't spoken to me directly.

"I dream and work every day to achieve it, and I hope it can happen as soon as possible. I hope it's in this window, but if not, I'm very happy at Crystal Palace."
This revelation comes amidst growing concerns over the club's European standing with UEFA investigating alleged breaches that could see The Eagles drop from the Europa League to the Conference League.

However, the transfer window hasn't been all drama for Palace fans, with the club securing deals for PSV stopper Walter Benitez and Ajax defender Borna Sosa, though any marquee signings have not yet materialised.
