Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of former Arsenal right-back Ryan Alebiosu from Belgian side K.V. Kortrijk for an undisclosed fee, making him the club’s third acquisition of the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old, who developed through Arsenal’s renowned Hale End academy, has signed a three-year contract at Ewood Park until June 2028, with an option to extend for a further year. The deal is believed to be worth around £500,000, following successful negotiations earlier this week. Alebiosu completed his medical and agreed personal terms on Wednesday before the clubofficially unveiled him via their social media platforms on Thursday evening.
Alebiosu’s path to Blackburn reflects a journey of perseverance and growth. Although he never made a senior appearance for Arsenal, he sought regular first-team football and moved to Belgium in 2022. Over 18 months at Kortrijk, the London-born defender developed his game further and earned a loan move to Scottish Premiership side St Mirren in January. His performances there, including three assists in 27 appearances, drew praise and interest from the Paisley club, who hoped to secure him permanently.

Reacting to the signing, manager Valérien Ismaël expressed his excitement: “We’re thrilled to welcome Ryan to Blackburn Rovers. He’s a player with tremendous potential, and his experience across different leagues at such a young age makes him a fantastic addition to our squad. His energy and versatility will add depth and competition to our backline as we aim to push forward this season.”
Alebiosu will immediately link up with the squad ahead of their pre-season preparations, which include a warm-weather training camp in Spain. He could feature in upcoming friendly matches, offering supporters a first look at a player many hope will be a key figure in the club’s push for promotion.
