Victor Osimhen has been the talk of the town for most of the summer transfer window.
The striker spent last season on loan to Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray after his Premier League move ended up falling through.
Since then, the striker has been in fine form with several clubs, such as Manchester United and Liverpool, linked with an interest in him.
Over the last week or so, however, it’s felt more likely that the Nigeria international will make a return to Okan Buruk’s team.

After the latest reports, however, it seems like there could still be some time for Arne Slot to make a move for the striker.
Negotiations between Napoli and Galatasaray for Victor Osimhen have ‘temporarily stopped’
As mentioned, Liverpool have been previously linked with Osimhen in their hunt for a new number nine.
Several names have been rumoured to be interested in a move to Anfield, but at the moment, nothing concrete has surfaced.
However, as per a report from Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, negotiations between Napoli and Galatasaray for Osimhen have ‘temporarily stopped.’

The report shares that Napoli are waiting for ‘bank guarantees’ from the Turkish outfit before they go ahead with the deal.
These guarantees are ‘not mandatory’ from UEFA, but it seems like Napoli would prefer to hold out until they’ve received them, which could potentially open a short window of time for Liverpool to swoop in.

Liverpool could do far worse than Victor Osimhen this summer
Although Osimhen has been notoriously hard to deal with during his time with Napoli, there’s no denying that he’s an exceptional striker.
The Nigerian has a keen eye for goal and due to the pace he has in his locker, opponents can rarely ever catch up with him.
Former Liverpool player El Hadji Diouf claimed that Osimhen could be Liverpool’s next Sadio Mane, with the African likely to form an incredible partnership with Mohamed Salah.

At the moment, the Reds don’t have any money to splurge on new players due to the money they’ve spent on bringing in players such as Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez.
However, if they manage to sell Darwin Nunez and potentially even Luis Diaz this summer, they should still have a bit of money left over to bolster their ranks.
This could then be spent on Osimhen, who would no doubt take Slot’s attack to another level.
Only time will tell what the future has in store, but for now, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen.
