Milwaukee Bucks: Doc Rivers Hints of Enhanced Role for Giannis Antetokounmpo Which He Said Will …

While the media continue to mess around and suggest that the Milwaukee Bucks will lose Giannis Antetokounmpo, the team are already plotting out their system for the next season, something head coach Doc Rivers said will feature a different Greek Freak.

Rivers attended the Bucks’ first summer league game against the Denver Nuggets, which they won, and sat with the broadcast team. He was asked about what they are planning for the next season and he gave some hint about Antetokounmpo’s enhanced role.

He will be playing a lot of point guard role this season.

“When I brought it up with Giannis— he thought I lost my mind,” Rivers shared.

“Coz he already has his ball in his hands, having him bring it up all the time. Nobody pressures Giannis. He brought it up against Indiana, pressure free. The most dangerous guy on our team had the ball already.

Giannis Antetokounmpo will make others better

Rivers then continued how Giannis can be effective in that role and how two shooters might have a breakout year because of this plan of theirs.

“When you put shooting around that, that’s where the Gary Trents and AJ Greens. . . And I think both of those guys will have a breakout year for us,” he said.

Giannis was shocked but this no news to those who have followed his NBA career. He did that late into the regular season when they were waiting for Damian Lillard to come back from injury. He even recorded four triple doubles in 10 games.

Former Bucks head coach Jason Kidd did that to him, too, in 2016-2017 season he made him their point forward.

As for the players that might breakout, that is something that happened before. Brook Lopez only made three three points with the Nets but made 1072 with the Bucks.
