Ajax have sold Borna Sosa to Crystal Palace. The Croatian left-back has signed a three-year contract, the Premier League club announced.
Ajax will receive a maximum of €4 million for the defender, who wasn’t part of new manager John Heitinga’s plans.
Sosa signed with Ajax two years ago at the behest of then-technical director Sven Mislintat. The Amsterdam club loaned the Croatian to Torino last season. With next year’s World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico in mind, the Croatian wanted to join a club where he would have more playing time.
We are delighted to announce the signing of Croatia international Borna Sosa on a three-year contract until 2028 ❤️💙#CPFC

Sosa’s move helps Ajax’s aim to cut player salaries by over €15 million this season. With the departures of Jordan Henderson, Jakov Medic (Norwich City), Kristian Hlynsson (FC Twente), and Christian Rasmussen (Fortuna Düsseldorf), the club is well on its way to achieving this goal. Henderson, who is available on a free transfer, will likely continue his career at Brentford.
