Cowboys Receive Odd Offseason Grade Under Brian Schottenheimer

The Dallas Cowboys' offseason, for most, has been one that has been about as positive as we can remember, both for player acquisitions and coaching hires.

Granted, there are a lot of unknowns about this current team and coaching staff, but that is part of the fun, and unlike a host of media personalities, who have already penciled in Dallas to get "embarrassed" every Sunday and predicted a horror season, one that was worse than last year, we haven't.

We prefer to let the cake bake around here before letting out concrete opinions.

But back to the offseason.

With the free agency additions on both sides of the ball, none of which were "star" players which the media was craving for, more so, solid contributors, most of which had first-round pedigree, coupled with a good draft class, and the finishing touch of George Pickens landing at The Star, things are going ok right now.

But ESPN's Seth Walder, in giving Dallas' offseason work a grading, oddly gave it a C.

Hmm, ok.

That does seem a little odd, so we went back to Seth's grading of Dallas' offseason last year that saw only Eric Kendricks come in and a handful of starters and rotational players leave, and he gave the Cowboys a D+.

So, this offseason, with the additions of Miles Sanders, Javonte Williams, Dante Fowler, Jack Sanborn, Pickens, Solomon Thomas, Payton Turner, plus drafting Tyler Booker, Donovan Ezeiruaku, and Shavon Revel, all of which many have lauded, the Cowboys only get a slightly better grade?

Plus, last season, Walder didn't like that the Cowboys failed to re-sign a host of stars; yet this season, Kavonte Turpin, Osa Odighizuwa, Markquese Bell, Bryan Anger, and, yes, we're waiting for Micah Parsons to sign, to top it all off. But surely that's better than last season?

Has the Cowboys' offseason been great? No, but one thing is for sure: we think it deserves something a little better than a C.
