Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo

This week has been defined by reports that Bryan Mbeumo is becoming frustrated by the lack of progress on his move from Brentford to Manchester United.

Throughout the summer, MEN Sport has understood that will only leave the Bees if it is to join . Even the arrival of Thomas Frank at hasn't changed that fact.

And yet, a deal has not progressed beyond the negotiation phase. remains a Brentford player after they rejected two bids from for the Cameroonian.

The Reds seemingly cannot match Brentford's valuation of the forward but instead of moving on, they remain confident that a deal can be agreed. As those negotiations continue at a painful speed, - with one of his international coaches

However, as the transfer saga continues to rumble on, a new welcome gift has been prepared by the club on the off chance that Mbeumo does move to United. Since left the club in 2024, the number 19 shirt has been available at the club.

This could be Mbeumo's first choice number to wear should he join the club, considering he has consistently chosen that squad number during his professional domestic career. On Thursday, United went and provided him with choice by freeing up the No.20 for the forthcoming season.

had represented that number during his career but has been handed a perceived upgrade by inheriting the No.2 which was vacated by upon his departure from Old Trafford. Mbeumo has consistently worn the No.20 on international duty for Cameroon and should he fancy a change from No.19, that could be his go-to choice.

This may end up being trivial if United cannot break the deadlock currently in place with Brentford. Whether they make that breakthrough or not, United will be hopeful that a conclusion can be reached sooner rather than later.
