With everyone starting to get back into pre-season mode, ready for next year’s campaign, Wrexham are no different, already on tour in Australia and New Zealand getting much-needed game time in the off-season.

The Dragons have been on a monumental rise since the new ownership of Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds bought the North Wales club back in 2021.

Over the last three years, the club have enjoyed a record back-to-back-to-back rise from the National League, gaining automatic promotions in both League Two and League One to now be taking on the Championship next season.

As such, the club are continuing their strategy of recruiting heavily in the summer for the next campaign, a move which has been working so far for them.

Already this summer, Wrexham have been linked with the likes of Christian Eriksen, Jamie Vardy and other top tier talent who find themselves without a club.

The Dragons have already signed Danny Ward from Leicester City as a free transfer at the end of his contract.

Alongside him Ryan Hardie has also joined the side from Plymouth Argyle, however another name on the club’s most recent team sheet might be familiar to Manchester United fans.

As Wrexham’s youth side prepare for their game against Halifax Wanderers Under-21s, former Manchester United youth star Connor Thorley has appeared on their official squad list.

It’s understood that the Wales Under-17s international has joined The Dragons after having a trial with Southampton which ultimately went nowhere.

The move came as Thorley departed Old Trafford at the end of last season, being let go by The Red Devils, however the left-back has clearly made his choice over the next stage of his career.
