We’ve noticed a real and discernible trend when it comes to assessing Cooper Flagg’s NBA potential and it’s pretty straightforward: people who have played or who do play see potential greatness while analysts who haven’t played have more questions.
Latest in the former camp to weigh in: Grant Hill.
The Duke legend had some strong comments about Flagg with Dallas, saying this:
“I like it for Cooper. I like it for the man. Cooper brings a skill set, where he does a number of things … Put the ball in his hands. Let him be a decision maker, let him learn from mistakes, but also hold him accountable. Have expectations of being a playoff team.”
Surprisingly, almost no one making player comparisons for Flagg has thought to use Hill, but you could do worse.
Like Hill, Flagg is a superb defender who can play all over the court. And like Hill, Flagg has seen questions about his three point shooting.
Anyway, it’s interesting to see Hill weigh in.
