Luis Diaz has been at the centre of attention for most of the summer transfer window.
The Liverpool attacker is entering the final two years of his deal, and at the moment, the Anfield outfit are showing no signs of wanting to extend his stay.
However, even though they could end up losing him for nothing at the end of next season, Arne Slot doesn’t want to sell Diaz as he sees him as a vital cog in his plans for the 2025-26 campaign.

And, the Dutchman may end up getting his wish after a new report shared that one interested club are set to throw in the towel for the Colombia international.
Barcelona are ready to give up on their pursuit of Luis Diaz
Since the transfer window opened at the start of June, two clubs have made their interest in Diaz well-known.
Both Barcelona and Bayern Munich see the former Porto man as their dream target this summer, with both looking to bolster their attacking ranks.
However, as per a report from Spanish outlet SPORT, it seems like Hansi Flick is ready to ‘throw in the towel.’
The report outlines that Barca are not willing to spend anywhere near the €80million (£69million) that Liverpool would demand for his sale.

And, due to how firm Liverpool are on this fee, the Spanish giants now believe the deal will be ‘very difficult’ to pull off.

Liverpool must hold firm with their stance on Luis Diaz
Although Diaz only has two years left on his current deal, there’s still plenty more that he can give Liverpool throughout the next season or so.
The Colombian was one of Liverpool’s best attackers last season, with his 25 goal contributions helping the Reds win the Premier League title.

And, even though this summer is likely the last time they’ll get a decent fee for him, with Darwin Nunez likely to jump ship and join Napoli, Slot needs to keep hold of as much talent as possible.
At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen, but with the way things have panned out thus far, keeping Diaz among the Anfield ranks should be a top priority for Liverpool this summer.
