LAKE FOREST, Ill., — The Chicago Bears are just days away from reporting to training camp, the franchise's first under head coach Ben Johnson. After an offseason of generating endless excitement and storylines, it's finally time for the 2025 season to begin.
On offense, the Bears added talented players to every single position group, including wide receiver. Despite having DJ Moore and Rome Odunze on the roster, Chicago used free agency and the NFL Draft to add talent. Beyond Moore and Odunze, the front office added Luther Burden III, Devin Duvernay, Miles Boykin, and Olamide Zaccheaus.
As Johnson continues to install his offense, figuring out what to do with one of the most talented positional groups on the roster will be a major question. Since taking over as general manager in 2022, Ryan Poles has spent a considerable amount of resources on wide receiver but 2025 looks to be the year where it all finally materializes. With quarterback Caleb Williams now in the fold, the hope is that he's also able to take a step forward with the help of his wide receivers.
While Moore and Odunze will end up being the two starters, the Bears will need to figure out how to incorporate Burden, Boykin, Zaccheaus, and Duvernay into the offense.
Beyond the veterans mentioned above, some younger players such as Tyler Scott and John Jackson will compete for the chance at making the roster, even after having spent the 2024 season with the Bears.
For wide receivers coach Antwaan Randle El, a challenge will be developing some of the younger players while also making sure that veterans are continuing to perform at a high level. With just one football and a handful of different playmakers on offense who can make an impact, every one of the Bears wide receviers will enter training camp with something to prove throughout July and August.
