Ruben Amorim and Manchester United are set to face growing competition over the pursuit of a Juventus and Inter Milan-linked midfielder, according to reports in Italy.
Manchester United are believed to be interested in signing a new midfielder this summer amid the long-term project for Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.
Amorim has now had the chance to begin the preliminary work of overhauling the United first-team squad that he received from former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag.
The 40-year-old United manager has limited options in the middle of the park for his team after midfielder Christian Eriksen left the Premier League club this summer.
The 33-year-old Danish midfielder became a free agent on 1st July after his contract with United expired on 30th June, following the 2024-25 Premier League season.
Amorim also saw the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Toby Collyer contend with injuries last season and midfielder Casemiro is out of contract with United next summer.
