David Moyes appears to have dodged a bullet amid a fresh transfer update on Everton.
The Scottish boss is keen to add to his squad this summer as he looks to continue the fine upturn in form he oversaw at the back end of last season into the new campaign.
The Toffees have already signed Thierno Barry, and the 22-year-old frontman should be an exciting addition to their ranks after an impressive season with Villarreal.
They are also eyeing an audacious swoop for Georgios Vagiannidis to bring greater depth at right-back, and the Merseysiders could be about to successfully hijack the Greek’s potential move to Sporting Lisbon.

Everton were offered the chance to sign Evan Ferguson
Evan Ferguson was linked with Everton at the start of the summer, but the Toffees have seemingly never sought to materialise their interest at any stage.
MORE TOFFEES STORIES
The Irishman seems destined to leave Brighton this summer, having failed to develop as expected over the last couple of seasons.
He now appears likely to head to Italy, with Roma and Atalanta both competing for his signature. It is also understood that the Toffees were offered the chance to sign Ferguson, according to Corriere Dello Sport (11 July).
The L5 outfit were among a contingent of “dozens of clubs” who were presented with the chance to sign the 20-year-old, as Brighton look to move him off their books.
They were thought to have been lining up a possible loan deal for Ferguson, but stepped away after learning of Roma’s interest.
The Friedkin Group are also the owners of the Italian capital club, and this could see Everton make a move to sign Ferguson later down the line, if Roma land him and then opt to sell in a few years.

Moyes has dodged a bullet with Ferguson
Everton’s interest in Ferguson was arguably something of a surprise, given the difficulties he has endured in recent seasons.
The frontman burst onto the scene with Brighton in the 2022/23 campaign, when he struck six goals from just 19 Premier League outings, and began to make a name for himself.
The youngster was linked with numerous big moves at the time, as he positioned himself as a talent who was capable of going on and achieving huge things in the game.

However, he failed to kick on with the Seagulls and then had a hugely disappointing loan spell at West Ham last term, which saw him play just 387 minutes in the league all season.
With that in mind, Moyes has undoubtedly dodged a bullet by not signing Ferguson, at least at this moment in time. Confidence has seemingly drained out of the youngster, and he looked a shadow of the gem that Brighton initially unearthed last term.
He still has plenty of time to get his career back on track, but for now, he would likely have had little impact at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
It may not be the worst idea for Everton to swoop back in later down the line, provided Ferguson kickstarts his development again. At present, they should be happy not to chase the striker.
