Martin Allen has spoken out after Mohammed Kudus left West Ham for Tottenham.

The Ghana international has been consistently linked with a Hammers exit this summer despite a difficult season in claret and blue.

That clearly didn’t turn Thomas Frank away from the 24-year-old who has since welcomed the £55million signing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

With that being said, Irons’ favourite Allen has now shared his reaction to the deal, sharing his hopes for the rest of the summer at the London Stadium.

After such a frustrating campaign from the ex-Ajax man, it did feel as if his release clause was never going to be reached this summer.

Despite this, fans did expect slightly better from David Sullivan in terms of a fee, especially considering that he was dealing with London rivals Spurs.

Regardless, Graham Potter has to deal with the decision and now has a kitty to spend as the summer window moves into the deeper stages.

This will be a welcome break for the English head coach, who is yet to make a signing since taking over from Julen Lopetegui in February.

It is fair to say that ex-midfielder Allen is hopeful that these funds can be spent in a positive fashion before the new Premier League campaign begins.

Taking to X (11 July), he said: “Great news, he’s gone. Now, hopefully, we can strengthen our team. A team to do us proud, a team that wants to play for us.

“Not ideal at the moment, I know, but hopefully a few more out and we can start to see and feel some hope with a few more in. Yes, it’s not easy.”

Potter must be backed after losing Kudus to Tottenham

There is no getting away from the fact that the Ghanaian attacker has failed to showcase his best form since the former Brighton boss came in.

With that being said, he was undoubtedly one of the most talented players in the entire squad for the Hammers, something which could have been seen more regularly next campaign.

The E20 faithful won’t get a chance to see that, instead watching him line up for a rival in the capital, leaving a hole in the claret and blue squad.

Now the Irons’ hierarchy needs to make funds available to spend to help build a squad around the likes of Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta at the London Stadium.
