In a time when Manchester United are facing heavy financial pressures, The Red Devils are set to receive a much-needed cash boost.

United have tightened their purse strings in Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s bid to make the club financially sustainable, meaning cost-cutting measures, boosting income and stricter negotiations.

When looking at United’s approach to the transfer market, some clear shifts have been taking place over the last 12-months.

Firstly United have been prioritising the signing of younger stars with clear potential to grow into the strs of tomorrow, with signings like Leny Yoro and Patrick Dorgu being clear examples of this.

Also the signing of Matheus Cunha and pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo show more of a push towards targeting proven Premier League stars, minimising the risk of signings failing to perform in the league.

However, when selling stars, especially younger ones, United have been routinely including sell-on and buy back clauses in key contracts for a few years now, looking to benefit on the continued development of their outgoing stars.

As such, The Red Devils are now due to cash in on their use of sell-on clauses with the upcoming sales of both Alvaro Carreras and Anthony Elanga.

Carreras departed United for £5 million last summer, making his loan move with Benfica permanent, now set to join Real Madrid a year later for around £42 million.

Elanga left Manchester United in 2023 after rising through the club’s academy, joining Nottingham Forest for £15 million, now set to join Newcastle United for around £55 million.

With Carreras having a 20% sell-on clause and Elanga’s being 15%, James Ducker of The Telegraph has reported that United are set to earn a nice £13.6 million on the profits, with £7.6 million from Carreras and £6 million from Elanga.

#MUFC stand to make around £13.6m in sell on fees from prospective sales of Elanga (Forest to Newc) & Alvaro Carreras (Benfica to Real M). 20% on c£38m profit on Alvaro (£7.6m) and 15% on c£40m profit on Elanga (£6m)
