Fresh Nottingham Forest transfer offer 'turned down' by Premier League rivals

Nottingham Forest have been knocked back by Brentford after reviving their interest in Yoane Wissa.

That’s according to The Athletic who claim the Reds have made another offer for the striker, having seen a £25million bid fail in the January transfer window.

The report claims this latest offer was actually lower than their previous one, a sign of the fact the 28-year-old has one season left on his existing deal, albeit the Bees are said to retain an option for a second.

The Athletic claim Brentford value the Congo international at £50m-plus after he scored 19 Premier League goals last season. It is pertinent to note that his importance to newly-appointed head coach Keith Andrews only increases if, as expected, Bryan Mbeumo joins Manchester United.

Forest tried to sign Wissa, who joined from Lorient in 2021, in the winter window but unable to strike a deal they went forward with Chris Wood and fleeting contributions from Taiwo Awoniyi.

However, this summer they have already bolstered their options up front with the arrival of Igor Jesus from Botafogo. Wood and Awoniyi remain on the books.

The claim comes as Forest face up to the prospect of losing both Anthony Elanga and Morgan Gibbs-White, albeit the Reds are taking legal advice regarding over the approach by Tottenham for their captain.
