Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly on the verge of signing 19-year-old German youth international Farid Alfa-Ruprecht from Manchester City next week.
According to an update by reputed German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Farid Alfa-Ruprecht is on the cusp of sealing a small-money move to Bayer Leverkusen. The Bundesliga outfit will fork out €1.3 million to sign the teenage sensation from Manchester City, with the 19-year-old winger set to sign a five-year contract with Die Werkself.
Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen will likely schedule the medical checks for Alfa-Ruprecht for next week, and a loan departure from BayArena may be on the cards for the Hamburg native. A separate update by Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester City will possess a 40 per cent sell-on clause in the agreement with the Bundesliga giants.
Who is Farid Alfa-Ruprecht?
Farid Alfa-Ruprecht has had to bide his time since joining Manchester City from Hamburger SV in September 2022. A native of ESV Einigkeit Wilhelmsburg, the 19-year-old winger began his youth career at ESV Einigkeit Wilhelmsburg before spending half a decade with Hamburger SV. However, he graduated from the fabled academy at Manchester City.
While the German youth international was excellent for Manchester City’s age-group teams, he did not make his first-team bow for the Premier League bigwigs. So, Alfa-Ruprecht’s stint with Manchester City will end without a senior appearance, with Bayer Leverkusen striking an agreement to secure his services.
German return beckons
Bayer Leverkusen lost Florian Wirtz last month, with the German international joining Liverpool. While Erik ten Hag has several wide attackers in his squad, Martin Terrier is recovering from a long-term achilles injury. So, the Bundesliga giants have been scouring the market for a winger in the summer transfer window, with several candidates, including Estevao Willian, emerging on their radar.
However, Farid Alfa-Ruprecht will bolster the first-team squad at Bayer Leverkusen, with the Bundesliga heavyweights agreeing to fork out €1.3 million to sign him from Manchester City in the summer transfer window. The teenage sensation will sign a five-year contract when he arrives at the BayArena.
Meanwhile, the 19-year-old German youth international will likely undergo his medical tests at Bayer Leverkusen next week, and a loan exit may be on the cards. However, the Bundesliga giants are yet to decide whether they want to sanction a temporary exit for Alfa-Ruprecht after he arrives from Manchester City.
