Guido Rodríguez appears to have been left in limbo at West Ham as a fresh update emerges regarding his future.

The Argentine has struggled to adapt to life in East London since his arrival from Real Betis last summer, and he drifted towards the fringes of the squad in the second half of last season after Graham Potter took the reins.

West Ham are understood to be happy to let Rodríguez leave E20, and it seems as though that could be the best move for all parties at the moment.

The midfielder’s lack of impact has rendered him an ineffective option, and Potter will surely be keen to seek out an upgrade ahead of the opening day of the new campaign.

Tigres and América distance themselves from Rodríguez

Mexican clubs Tigres and América had both emerged as potential suitors for Rodríguez, as the Hammers look to get him off their books.

The duo were both reportedly keen to land the midfielder, but David Sullivan had been left with a key decision on his hands, given that the player himself wants to stay and fight for his place.

However, it now seems that these options may have closed off for Rodríguez, with the Mexican giants both distancing themselves from him, according to Record (10 July).

The 31-year-old previously spent three years with América before moving to Europe, but their board have now confirmed that he is “not the foreign reinforcement they are looking for” this summer.

Tigres have taken a similar stance on the out-of-favour Hammers man. Their hierarchy have acknowledged their admiration of Rodríguez as a player, but have also stated that he won’t be heading there.

West Ham and Rodríguez have been left in limbo

Rodríguez has been a poor signing for West Ham so far, and with the two potential interested parties having now publicly retracted their interest in him, it has left a difficult situation.

The East Londoners are keen to move him on, but with both potential suitors now not an option, they and Rodríguez have both been left in limbo.

The player may ultimately end up getting his way in this scenario, as Potter and Co. won’t be able to get him off the wage bill unless they can seek out another club that would be happy to take him.

West Ham’s options have now been narrowed down significantly, and they have been left with a situation which could be difficult for them to navigate.
