Leeds United making a second attempt for Lecce striker Nikola Krstović this summer cannot be ruled out, despite his rejections so far.
That’s [according to La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno](https://www.lagazzettadelmezzogiorno.it/news/lecce/1768757/krstovic-resta-al-centro-il-lecce-si-guarda-attorno.html), who report that Leeds could return to try and convince the striker of the move to Elland Road this summer.
Daniel Farke’s side have been linked with a move for Krstović throughout this summer transfer window so far, but it has been made clear that he has put any talks on hold as he’s focused on signing for Roma.
Reports in Italy have stated that he’s told Leeds as much directly, but the Italian side are yet to push a deal over the line.
La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno now report that Atalanta could join the hunt too as they look to replace Mario Retegui, who is on the verge of a move to Saudi Arabia.
Whoever wants to sign the striker will have to offer a ‘significant outlay, with Lecce not interested in offering any discounts for their star man.
However, if neither of the Italian sides do so, La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno report that it cannot be ruled out that Leeds will return to the fray for Krstović this summer. The hope in that scenario would be that they can convince him to look at their offer differently after the Italy opportunity doesn’t materialise.
It’s very much an if at this point but, despite Krstović having turned Leeds down already, the belief in Italy is that they’re not completely out of the picture yet.
