Stephen Curry Gets Honest About His Future In NBA

The clock is ticking for Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, and he is well aware of that.

Speaking with NBC Sports, Curry made it clear that he won’t be playing basketball forever and said he is approaching his career just “two years at a time.”

“I’m taking it two years at a time, that’s all I have in my contract left. I hope to be in a situation where, physically, I have the choice and it’s not made for me. [I’m] doing everything I can to stay limber, stay active, and do what I do at a high level. Just trying to stay in the moment. Let’s see what happens in two years,” Curry said.

Curry mentioned that he is contracted with the Warriors through 2026-27, and he will be earning about $60 million for every season left.

After that, the path ahead is not clear.

Curry is still doing a lot for his Warriors, and averaged 24.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 6.0 assists during the 2024-25 season.

He shot 44.8 percent from the field and 39.7 percent from the three-point line.

The man can still play incredible basketball, even at 37 years old.

But he knows that he won’t be doing this forever and isn’t thinking too far into the future.

This means that next season will be even more important for the Warriors.

The front office also understands that their greatest player ever is reaching the end of the road.

If they want to truly compete for another championship, the time is now, and they need to do everything in their power to give Curry the best chance to earn his fifth ring before retirement.
