After a few weeks without any NBA action, fans have been able to tune into the Summer League to satiate their need for basketball.
The Summer League isn’t for everyone, as it is mostly about the development of younger players, but it is a great opportunity to see this year’s draft picks in action, along with other players in their second or third seasons.
The basketball world was watching Thursday night as the Dallas Mavericks’ Cooper Flagg made his debut against the Los Angeles Lakers.
People wanted to see the No. 1 overall pick on the court against fellow NBA athletes, hoping he was worthy of the investment.
One Summer League game doesn’t determine what he’ll make of himself in the NBA, of course, but after analyzing his performance in a postgame interview, Flagg was honest about his shortcomings.
“I was trying to be aggressive… I’d say that’s one of the worst games of my life,” Flagg said.

Flagg indicated that his coaches wanted him to be aggressive and “try new things” throughout the game, but in his eyes, it didn’t go as planned.
He finished the game with 10 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals, but considering he went 5-21 from the field, there are certainly ways for him to improve moving forward.
Flagg mentioned that the pace of the game is much different in the NBA, and he’ll have to adjust to a higher level of play if he wants to make an impact moving forward.
This is a great example of how the Summer League provides a great learning opportunity for young players who hope to improve leading up to the start of the regular season.
