Wolves are said to be interested in a Club World Cup hero this summer

The new Premier League season is on the horizon and Wolverhampton Wanderers will be targeting some major arrivals to bolster their squad ahead of Vitor Pereira’s first full season in charge of the club.

Wolves have already signed Jorgen Strand Larsen and Fer Lopez in a brutal double swoop from Celta Vigo, after Strand Larsen shone on loan at the club last campaign.

The West Midlands club will have been keenly watching the Club World Cup in the USA this summer, with top players from all over the world coming to the fore and getting to show their qualities to future employers on a global stage. The competition has allowed for South American clubs in particular to shine and, at times, overcome their European counterparts.

Wolves are reportedly interested in a Club World Cup wonderkid and may soon make an official proposal to bring one of the young stars of the tournament to Molineux.

Wolves are interested in Flamengo’s Wallace Yan

Sport Witness report that Wolves are interested in Flamengo forward Wallace Yan. He is said to be ‘on the radar’, though an official offer is yet to be presented and the player remains fully focused on Rio until that changes.

The 20-year-old only made his professional debut 18 months ago but has seen a quick rise to prominence. He has scored six goals and laid on three assists in 15 games in 2025 in all competitions, including two goals in the Club World Cup - notably a late third goal against Chelsea in the group stage as Flamengo came from behind to win 3-1, in what may have been the first introduction to Wallace for many in Europe.

Sport Witness cite Globo Esporte in saying that Flamengo are aware of Wolves’ interest in Wallace but are demanding between £13m - £21m for the forward, which would be a cut-price deal compared to the £42m release clause in his current deal.

Wallace Yan could become latest Brazilian to light up Molineux

To move from Rio de Janeiro to Wolverhampton seems like a massive, unfamiliar step for someone as early in their career as Wallace Yan, but may not seem quite as daunting when you consider the Brazilians who have shone at Molineux before him.

Matheus Cunha is the obvious example, as he became a talismanic figure with 15 Premier League goals last season before departing for a club-record sale to Manchester United. Wolves also boast two full Brazilian internationals in their midfield, in Joao Gomes and Andre. In addition, young Brazilian defender Pedro Lima is at the club and the likes of Willian Jose and Leo Bonatini have also featured for Wolves in recent years.

Wallace will see parallels between himself and Gomes in particular, as the 24-year-old went from Flamengo to Wolves in 2023 and has since become a Brazil international. The number of Portuguese speakers in the squad and staff could also be a key factor in helping Wallace settle in.

Flamengo see Wallace as a key part of their future and are hoping to tie him down to a new deal, which may make it more difficult for Wanderers to negotiate a transfer. If an official transfer offer is soon made the deal could quickly progress and we might soon see another Brazilian light up Molineux.
