James McAtee's next move is staring him in the face as £25m bid now set to arrive for Man City…

There has been a lot of talk around the future of James McAtee this week.

Manchester City are currently in the process of trimming Pep Guardiola’s squad, and with Kyle Walker recently leaving for Burnley, the Premier League giants are looking for solutions for many of their unwanted stars.

The likes of Jack Grealish and Kalvin Phillips are proving hard to shift, while John Stones and Ilkay Gundogan face uncertain futures, as it is not fully clear if Guardiola wants the duo gone.

McAtee, on the other hand, has plenty of interest from England, Germany and Italy, but the midfielder is yet to decide where he is going to play next season, despite the perfect option staring him in the face.

Borussia Dortmund tick all the boxes for James McAtee

McAtee has plenty of options to remain in the Premier League next season, with Everton interested in the Man City star, along with Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and West Ham.

However, Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt are believed to be leading the race for McAtee, and a move to the Black and Yellow side would be the perfect next step for the 22-year-old.

The Englishman would be joining one of the best teams in Germany, who could challenge for the Bundesliga next season, and have a history of developing young English players.

BVB will also be able to offer him plenty of minutes to shine, and one of the most important factors for the player is that Dortmund can offer the midfielder Champions League football.

The Bundesliga giants tick all the boxes for what McAtee is looking for in his next club, and it is believed that the Man City star is keen on moving to the Bundesliga.

A proposal from a Premier League club could still change the 22-year-old’s mind on a switch to Germany, and it is believed that an English side have an offer ready to send to Manchester for their midfield star.

Nottingham Forest ready to bid £25m for James McAtee

The future of Morgan Gibbs-White at Nottingham Forest remains uncertain, but once the 25-year-old is sold, the Midlands club are expected to make their move for McAtee.

According to the Daily Mail, Forest are weighing up an initial bid of around £25m plus add-ons for McAtee; however, it may take more than this to sign the 22-year-old as Man City value the midfielder closer to £40m – the fee they received from Chelsea for Cole Palmer two years ago.

A move to the City Ground would not be the worst move for McAtee, especially with Gibbs-White freeing up space for the Englishman, but a move to Dortmund would benefit the player more in the long run.

Moving to the Bundesliga would help McAtee in many ways, and if he shines with BVB, history has shown that every big club has their eye on what is happening at Signal Iduna Park.
