With everyone focused on new arrivals, fans should know that Leeds United still need to balance the books. The club have pushed, but just one player has left on a transfer deal.
The club also lost Junior Firpo on a free transfer this summer, fortunately for the Whites, Sam Byram will return for one more year. Some brilliant moves have been made to augment the squad, but ultimately, Leeds will have to clear space if they are keen on adding more players.

Especially in an area like the attack which is crying out for more quality. Patrick Bamford and Jack Harrison are still under contract, and if they manage to stay past this summer, they could take the spot of a potential new signing. Adam Pope slams Leeds United transfer

In the summer of 2023, Jesse Marsch was given freedom to make signings for Leeds. He ended up recruiting a bunch of players from Red Bull clubs. In came Tyler Adams, Rasmus Kristensen, Max Wober and Brenden Aaronson.
Only two of them are currently Leeds players in 2025, and one of them is on their way out. Max Wober joined Werder Bremen on loan with an option to buy over a week ago. He is not expected to return.
BBC journalist Adam Pope thinks the Austrian was a pointless signing by the club:
“Fans are asking, ‘Why haven’t they sold him?’ It’s clear there was no future. The most pointless transfer of all time,” Pope said.
“He hasn’t really contributed to Leeds; it was inevitable he had to go.”

Max Wober’s reputation has not been the best
The weeks leading up to his exit have not been pretty. He told Austrian media live on air that Leeds wanted to sell him during the international break. There was a report that he fell out with Daniel Farke in 2023, which has lead to his exit this year.
Farke wanted the defender to stay for his first season in charge, but Wober did not leave a good impression during the conversation.
Has the defender really been a flop?
Max Wober was signed for £12million and has made a total of 24 league appearances for the club in three seasons. For context, he made more appearances in the 2023/24 Bundesliga season for Gladbach than he had in his league career for Leeds United.
He has fallen out with the manager, revealed club reports to the public and will leave for a loss. The Austrian can definitely be labelled as a transfer flop.
