West Ham turn down offer – Deal off as player wants to stay and fight for place

Luis Guilherme will not be leaving London this window, as [multiple reports from Brazil](https://diario.dopovo.com.br/2025/07/10/botafogo-tenta-contratar-luis-guilherme-mas-west-ham-recusa-proposta/) reveals the West Ham midfielder has rejected a move to Botafogo.

The Rio de Janeiro club had offered €20m (£17m) to sign the 19-year-old, but both West Ham and the player were not interested in completing a deal.

While the Premier League side immediately turned down the approach, [newspaper Globo Esporte](https://ge.globo.com/futebol/times/botafogo/noticia/2025/07/10/luis-guilherme-espera-mais-chances-no-west-ham-e-botafogo-mira-outros-alvos-para-o-ataque.ghtml) now states that the deal is off entirely, as Luis Guilherme himself does not want to leave.

After joining from Palmeiras in June 2024 for €23m, the teenager had a low-key first season in England, making just 13 appearances. However, the recent departure of Mohammed Kudus significantly improves his chances of getting more minutes in the upcoming campaign.

Despite previous reports that West Ham were willing to listen to offers, with Porto and Shakhtar Donetsk both making unsuccessful bids earlier this year, the situation has changed.

Luis Guilherme now intends to stay in London and compete for a more prominent role under Graham Potter.

Botafogo had hoped to tempt the player with a return to familiar surroundings and the leadership of new coach Davide Ancelotti, who brings experience from Real Madrid and the Brazil national team setup.

But with the player fully focused on his European career, the Brazilian club will now need to shift their attention to other targets.

It remains to be seen who Botafogo will move for next, but for now, their pursuit of Luis Guilherme has come to an end.
