Journalist Florian Plettenberg on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has insisted that the United player remains a “priority” for Barcelona this summer.

The Sky Germany reporter added that the Spanish club could be going “all-in” for Rashford and “want to try again” to sign the England star from United.

Romano has suggested that Real Madrid will pay off the release clause for the 22-year-old left-back in “multiple installments” instead of putting the entire fee up now.

However, Carreras has not ‘travelled’ to complete his move to the Spanish capital due to the buyback clause that United have placed in his current contract.

United could scupper Madrid’s move for Carreras by activating his £25m buy-back clause, but the Red Devils have not hinted at intervening in the transfer so far.
