"A representative has flown to meet with Tottenham" - £55k per week Spurs ace a target for Euro …

Tottenham Hotspur are conducting a massive squad overhaul after a disappointing 2024/25 campaign that saw the club finish in 17th place in the Premier League.

Spurs have added Mohammed Kudus to the ranks and are working on a deal for Morgan Gibbs-White to join, even if Nottingham Forest keep fighting to retain their captain.

Conversely, Tottenham must trim the squad by selling underperforming players, with several of them on the chopping block, particularly midfielder Yves Bissouma.

The Tottenham central midfielder endured a frustrating campaign marked by poor performances that have made him expendable. Interestingly, he is attracting interest from suitors.

Per Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, “A representative authorised by Fenerbahce has flown to London to meet with Yves Bissouma and Tottenham.”

News of Turkish interest in Bissouma broke out this week, and Spurs could be open to parting ways with the Malian. He was serviceable, but the North Londoners need an upgrade.

Tottenham paid £25 million to sign the 28-year-old from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2022. He earns £55,000 per week at the club.

However, with just one year left on his contract, the club may have to lower the asking price to avoid losing him for free next summer.

The funds from a potential Bissouma sale must be used to reinforce the Tottenham engine room. Spurs should consider a move for Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton (view).

Despite being limited to just 20 league appearances due to injury, Wharton impressed with his ball-winning ability and composure in possession.

He averaged 3.46 possession wins per 90 in the middle third. Only 10 Premier League players posted better numbers, and only Rodrigo Bentancur bettered him among Tottenham players.

The Englishman also averaged 1.36 interceptions and just 0.81 fouls per 90, placing him fourth and seventh compared to the Spurs squad.

His ball recoveries, 0.68 in the attacking and 2.78 in the defensive third per 90, would also rank among Tottenham’s best.

Beyond defensive work, Wharton excelled on the ball, often dictating play from deep and progressing it with intent.

He led all Crystal Palace players for passes into the final third per 90 (16.63 attempted, 11.4 completed) and would rank third at Spurs for through-balls attempted (0.34 per 90).

His blend of control, intelligence, and progressive passing makes him the standout midfield presence Spurs are crying out for.
