Club ends Liverpool player pursuit and Rodrygo stance revealed: Friday's Liverpool transfer round-up

Liverpool have been very busy in the transfer market this summer, with Arne Slot and Richard Hughes taking their spending close to £200million.

And, while they’ve already added a fair few new faces, such as Milos Kerkez, to their ranks, it doesn’t feel like they’re going to be stopping there.

On the face of things, it’s clear that Liverpool need a new striker and potentially a new centre-back in order to be as competitive as possible.

Here, Rousing the Kop have collected three of the biggest transfer stories to have emerged from Anfield on Friday, 11 July.

What it would take for Napoli to come back in for Federico Chiesa

Federico Chiesa’s future at Liverpool has been brought into question on several occasions this term.

The attacker was hardly given any playing time by Slot throughout the 2024-25 campaign, and when he was chosen, he failed to live up to expectations.

This led to rumours being shared that Chiesa would be looking for a way out in order to get more playing time.

And now, as per a fresh report from Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, it seems like Napoli would only be willing to come back in for Chiesa once they sell Victor Osimhen.

Luis Diaz is another Liverpool player who has found himself at the centre of attention this summer.

Both Bayern Munich and Barcelona have shown a strong interest in the Colombian with the latter of the two the first to make an enquiry for him.

Now, however, as per a report from Spanish outlet SPORT, it seems like Hansi Flick has given up his chase for Diaz due to the fee Liverpool are demanding.

Slot sees him as an integral part of his plans this summer, and although his deal is set to expire in two years, he doesn’t care that he could lose him for nothing and would rather keep him around.

Real Madrid are now ‘open’ to selling Rodrygo this summer

Over the last week or so, it’s been made abundantly clear that Rodrygo isn’t a part of Xabi Alonso’s plans for Real Madrid.

The Brazilian wasn’t started in Los Blancos’ last five Club World Cup games, with his manager preferring the likes of Vinicius Junior over him.

And now, as per a report from Fabrizio Romano, it seems like Real are ‘open’ to letting Rodrygo leave this summer.

Liverpool are among the teams who have been linked with an interest in the attacker, with some of their Premier League rivals, such as Arsenal, also throwing their hat into the ring.
