Both of these two have been consistently linked with Everton and a move to Merseyside in this transfer window, although so far, nothing solid has yet transpired regarding either player.
It appears now that City boss Pep Guardiola is giving the green light for both Grealish and McAtee to leave the Etihad Stadium and move on to pastures new.
The Blues are in desperate need of reinforcements across the board, with a particular focus on full-back, out wide and in midfield, with I think another striker also needed.
That is a lot of new players still to come through the doors. Yet things still seem to be moving at a glacial pace as other clubs act quickly and get signings done and dusted.
Of the two, McAtee looks the most attractive option given his age and the hope that he would get even better too, and then possibly attract a bigger fee were Everton to sell him in the future.
The England Under-21 star had a standout European Championships just recently as the young Three Lions successfully defended their title.
McAtee is a player who could help solve several issues with his versatility, as the 22-year-old can operate in midfield or attack.
This would enable David Moyes to concentrate his resources and look at other transfer options and to tackle the gaps in his first-team to improve the quality and depth of the squad.
Given his talent and potential, it is not surprising that McAtee has a host of suitors looking to try and sign him if he decides to leave City, with a German club said to be the current front-runners.
Whether the Blues are still serious about bringing in this player is an open question, which only the club and Moyes can answer.
But, the worry remains that the Toffees are still lagging behind other clubs in their pursuit of the targets they want to sign and could lose out on them.
