Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has revealed that Noni Madueke’s transfer to Arsenal will be announced “in the next few hours”.
The two clubs reached an agreement over a deal for the player on Friday, with the Gunners set to pay a transfer fee of £52 million.
Madueke will sign a five-year contract, and his arrival could see Leandro Trossard leave the Emirates ahead of next season.
It’s the second deal struck between Arsenal and Chelsea this summer after Kepa Arrizabalaga moved to north London for £5m.
Chelsea boss confirms Madueke to Arsenal transfer imminent
Speaking ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup final against PSG on Sunday, Maresca confirmed the move will be announced very soon.
“Noni is in contact with the new club and I guess he is going to be [announced] in the next hours,” the Italian said.
Asked if he had any qualms about selling one of his regular starters to a rival club in the Premier League, he responded: “I said in one of the last press conferences that if players want to leave, then it is difficult for the club and the manager.
“Noni decided to leave. Nobody told Noni he had to leave. If he is happy, we are happy.”
Madueke sought to leave Stamford Bridge after Chelsea signed Jamie Gittens, who also plays on the right wing, from Borussia Dortmund for £55m. Wide attacker Estevao Willian will also arrive this summer following an pre-agreed transfer with Palmeiras.
