The Pittsburgh Steelers and star pass rusher T.J. Watt have become entrenched in a contract standoff. His new deal is likely to exceed that of star Browns pass rusher Myles Garrett, who is earning $40 million per year.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk notes that the Steelers’ hesitancy to pay Watt stems from how he ended the season. Watt was injured, dealing with an ankle sprain and thumb issue, and saw his pass rush productivity fall sharply down the stretch.
