The Green Bay Packers went 11-6 last season before coming up short against eventual Super Bowl champions Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round. While general manager Brian Gutekunst has ambitions of turning the Packers into a championship-winning team, the bookmakers don’t rate their chances.
ThePackers are +2000 to win Super Bowl LX with Betway, highlighting the size of the task they face heading into the 2025 NFL season.
With that in mind, read on as we look at five Packers players who have a point to prove with the Packers during the upcoming campaign.
Packers Players With a Point to Prove
Devonte Wyatt
Wyatt was second in sacks (5.0), quarterback hits (9.0) and tackles for loss (9.0) last term, despite missing three games with an ankle injury. While his speed around the defensive line is a useful asset to the Packers, doubts remain about his ability to cope with the mental side of the game.
TJ Slaton’s departure in free agency has opened up a window of opportunity for Wyatt and the 2025 season will determine whether he has a future in Green Bay.Wyatt’s salary will be $12.938 million for 2026 and he must prove he is worth the financial commitment the Packers have made to him.

The Professional Football Writers of America named Williams in their 2024 All-Rookie team after an impressive first season with the Packers.Hamstring and quadriceps injuries hindered his progress, while a concussion killed his hopes of ending the campaign well. However, his recognition by the PFWA highlights the positive impression he made when he was fit enough to demonstrate his defensive abilities.
Williams has the athleticism and game IQ to develop into a top-class safety for the Packers. If he stays healthy, their hopes of success would improve.
Sean Rhyan
Rhyan started all 17 games at right guard last season and delivered some respectable numbers. He now needs to build on the foundations he laid.
He was suspended for the final six games of his rookie season in 2022 for violating the NFL’s policy onperformance-enhancing substances. That setback threatened to ruin his hopes of forging a successful career in the NFL, but he has begun to show why the Packers drafted him in the third round three years ago.
Rhyan is also entering a contract year, so it is imperative he continues to keep progressing if he wants to remain with the Packers.

Valentine started the final seven games last season as a replacement for the injured Jaire Alexander and caught the eye with several standout moments. He had interceptions at Seattle and Minnesota, forced fumbles against New Orleans and Chicago, and played every snap in the final three games of the season.
A series of injuries stalled his initial progress with the Packers, but he has started to show his true potential now he is healthy.
Valentine was ranked number seven among all rookies in 2023, highlighting why many respected pundits think he could become a solid performer in the NFL and one of the Packers players leading the team next season.
Matthew Golden
Golden has landed in Green Bay as their first pick in the 2025 NFL draft and big things are expected of a player who has speed to burn. The 21-year-old ran the 40-yard dash in 4.29 seconds at this year’s NFL Combine – the fastest time amongst all the wideouts.
He has been tipped to be part of the Packers primary offensive unit this season, and his speed should be a useful asset as the campaign progresses.
Golden is the first wide receiver to beselected by the Packers in the first round since 2002, so the pressure is on him to repay their faith.
