Manchester United are said to be open to selling one of the key players in their starting eleven, as interest from the Saudi Pro League is said to have emerged in the last few days for the star who could leave this summer.
Ruben Amorim is desperate to get some players out the door this summer to free up funds for the signatures he wants to make, but the club are yet to offload any of the players who are said to be surplus to requirements.
Antony, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho are all expected to leave the club along with Alejandro Garnacho, but with no sales currently on the horizon for any of those players, Amorim is expected to be left shorthanded for the beginning of preseason.
Matheus Cunha’s signature has bolstered the squad, but the reluctance from both sides to close a deal for Bryan Mbeumo has left a sour taste in the mouth of many fans as the US tour approaches fast.
United could, however, sell one player who they are reportedly open to losing in the coming weeks, with interest from Saudi Arabia circling.
United open to Onana sale amid renewed Saudi interest
United are said to be open to the sale of Andre Onana, with the Cameroon international being linked with a move away in recent days to Saudi Arabia.
According to StrettyNews, United would listen to offers for Onana, but as of right now, the player is not close to leaving the club, as no concrete offers have arrived. Three clubs have enquired, but the interest has gone no further than that.
The report states the clubs interested are Al-Qadsiyah, Al-Ittihad, and Al Hilal. Onana has yet to indicate he is open to leaving the club after a difficult season, and despite being open to his departure should an offer come, United seems to be planning for the campaign with him in goal.
Amorim has made no mistake in getting the players he does not deem part of his plans out of the squad since he took over, so the fact Onana remains in the squad perhaps shows the manager feels he has some sort of value.
Onana departure may be best
Andre Onana is a very good goalkeeper, but for whatever reason, he has not shown that consistently since joining United.
The former Ajax man had a very good second half of the campaign in Erik ten Hag’s first second season, but that was overshadowed by a dismal Champions League showing.
It may be time for United to inject new blood into the goalkeeping spot, and UtdDistrict sources understand Senne Lammens has been someone the club has been keeping tabs on since the start of the window.

Onana’s sale should not be a priority due to the fact other positions need strengthening more, but if the money is right and the market opportunity is there, United should jump at the chance.
