Bo Nix burst onto the scene in the rookie year with the Denver Broncos in 2024 as he helped lead them to the playoffs for the first time since 2015, the year the Broncos won Super Bowl 50. The questions at the quarterback position had plagued the Broncos ever since Peyton Manning retired after that Super Bowl, but Nix showed the fanbase that he was finally going to be the answer everyone had been waiting for.
Denver selected Nix with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 Draft out of Oregon. He had a lot of college experience under his belt at both Oregon and Auburn, and even held the record for most starts in college football history for a short period of time. While his age was a question, it translated to a level of experience that other rookie quarterbacks didn’t have.
Nix’s rookie campaign got off to a bit of a slippery start, as the first two games that Denver dropped to Seattle and Pittsburgh were clearly a lot for the youngster. However, he marched into Tampa Bay in Week 3 and marched the Buccaneers up and down the field, a performance that kicked off a season that had him in Offensive Rookie of the Year conversations at one point. When it was all said and done, he put up 3,775 yards with 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing over 66% of his passes.
Nix was recognized by many for his performance for Denver in Year 1, and showed the football world that he was here to make a difference and compete with the top dogs in the league. Recently, one of the best quarterbacks in college football history made sure to give Nix his flowers.

Robert Griffin III, the winner of the 2011 Heisman Trophy, is just one of many people hopping on the Nix train. Griffin had the tools to be a star in the NFL, but injuries derailed his career after winning Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2012 with Washington. While he didn’t have th most illustrious NFL career, he still showed that he was as talented as any signal caller in the league.
Griffin’s praise for the signal caller shows that everyone is buying in. However, this season, Nix needs to take that next step to show people he can be a Pro Bowler, to show people that he can compete with Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes and to show people that he can take the Broncos to the promised land.
Training camp gets underway in just two weeks, as Nix and the Broncos look to build off their successful 2024 season.
