£65m Mbeumo and midfield warrior sign: Man United's monster new line-up after latest transfer rumours are true

Manchester United are preparing for their first full season under the guidance of Ruben Amorim

Manchester United have an important summer ahead of them as they look to bolster their ranks. They finished down in 15th place in the Premier League table last season. The Red Devils were also beaten in the Europa League final by Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao.

Ruben Amorim was picked as their replacement for Erik ten Hag during the last campaign. It has since been a mixed spell for the former Sporting Lisbon man at Old Trafford so far. He will be under pressure to get results from the off next term. In the meantime, here is a look at how their best starting XI could look based on the rumours...

Man Utd’s defence could remain unchanged but new goalkeeper may join

United have been linked with a move for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez in this window. Andre Onana is facing an uncertain future in the North West and may well move on. Therefore, a replacement would be required. Martinez, 32, is a vastly experienced option and would be ideal for the Red Devils.

He won the World Cup with Argentina back in 2022 and has been the number one at Villa Park for the last five years. Prior to his move to the Midlands, he was on the books at Arsenal. In terms of Amorim's backline, he is well stocked up with options and most of his targets are further up the pitch.

Harry Maguire and Mathijs de Ligt will be eager to keep opponents at bay as much as possible in the next campaign. The latter joined around 12 months ago following spells at Ajax, Juventus and Bayern Munich and he will feel the best is yet to come from him. At left-back, Patrick Dorgu has a lot of potential at the age of 20 and he will aim to keep Luke Shaw out of the team.

Man United could sign Ollie Watkins, Bryan Mbeumo and Tyler Dibling

United need to inject some more quality into their sauad, especially at the top end of the pitch. Bruno Fernandes remains their biggest source of assists and keeping hold of him is vital. Edersen has reportedly emerged as a target after catching the eye at Atalanta in Serie A.

Edersen, 26, joined his current club back in 2022 and has since become one of their most prized assets. However, they risk losing him over the next couple of months amid attention from elsewhere. If the Red Devils snapped him up, he would give them more competition and depth in the middle of the park and give them something different to call upon.

He is someone who likes to cut in on his lethal left foot from the right. There is an air of inevitability that Southampton will lose Tyler Dibling and United have been mentioned as a possible next destination for him. If that is the case, he would push to get into their side. He is someone with a very bright future in the game and could be worth a lot of money down the line.

Matheus Cunha has already secured his transfer to the Red Devils after his impressive form at Wolves. He is a versatile operator and can play down the middle or off the wing if needed. The Brazilian scored 33 goals in 92 outings during his days at Molinuex and will be hoping for more of the same with his new team.

Up front, Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins is said to be on United's radar and would be perfect. The ex-Brentford man has found the net on 87 occasions in 223 matches since his transfer to Villa Park, 17 of which came last term. He is also an England international with 18 caps to his name.
