Chelsea ‘willing’ to sell £60m gem linked with Aston Villa as Newcastle 'seriously consider'…

The latest Premier League transfer rumours - with news from Chelsea, Newcastle, Liverpool and more.

The weekend might mean a break from hard work for many of us, but the rumour mill never sleeps – so we’re back with a Saturday morning round-up of all the biggest new Premier League transfer stories to keep you in the loop, starting with a story for Chelsea fans.

They’d want £60m to do a deal, it seems, and it’s suggested that Aston Villa could be in the market for the Senegalese striker should they fail to keep hold of Ollie Watkins this transfer window. Should Villa make a move, apparently, Chelsea would even try to engineer a part-exchange deal involving Morgan Rogers.

There is apparently “talk among [Jackson’s] team-mates” that he could leave the club this summer, and both Arsenal and Manchester United are mooted as potential destinations, too, although there is no suggestion that any of the sides linked with Jackson have registered their interest as yet.

The 3AM Verdict: Selling Jackson would be in keeping with Chelsea’s business model of turning profits on developmental players whenever possible – see Noni Madueke’s sudden sale, for example – but there’s nothing in this report to suggest that Chelsea actually have any interested buyers as yet. That could easily change, of course, but for now this feels speculative, more than anything else. The £60m fee is an interesting note, as other outlets have suggested rather lower numbers.

Newcastle eye shock move for former Chelsea star

Let’s hand over to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo now, as they’ve got an interesting rumour for Newcastle supporters – they allege that the Magpies are “seriously considering” a bid for Atlético Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher, who could leave Spain despite an impressive debut season.

Although apparently much appreciated in the dressing room and by Diego Simeone, Gallagher hasn’t been a nailed-on starter in midfield and has spent a surprising amount of time out on the wing with his current side, so Atléti are supposedly “willing to listen to offers”.

One such offer could also come from Tottenham Hotspur, who apparently wanted him last summer, but the report implies that Newcastle are a more likely suitor, with former Chelsea star Gallagher apparently “very popular” with Eddie Howe.

The 3AM Verdict: It has to be said that Gallagher would be a pretty good fit for Newcastle’s system, but the lack of detail in this report makes us sceptical – there’s no transfer fee mentioned, no hint of negotiations taking place, just a lot of speculation. Less than likely to happen, in our opinion, but it isn’t a crazy suggestion by any means.

Real Madrid set to bid for key Liverpool star

It’s already been a summer of substantial change at Anfield, but Liverpool could be set for even more movement in the transfer market, according to TeamTalk, who claim that Xabi Alonso has “told [his team] to sign Alexis Mac Allister” over the coming weeks.

Real Madrid are reportedly “ready to make a massive bid” to secure the Argentine World Cup winner’s services and leave free-spending Liverpool, who have already seen Trent Alexander-Arnold leave for the Bernabeu, with a headache. There’s no word on just how massive that bid might be, nor on whether Liverpool would even consider it.

There’s also an update on Real’s apparent pursuit of defender Ibrahima Konaté, which doesn’t seem to be going anywhere fast – Real only want to spend €25m (£21.5m) on the Frenchman, but Liverpool want double that. Real are said to be “pushing” to get a deal done, but it doesn’t look as though they’re pushing all that hard.

The 3AM Verdict: Reading deeper into the report, the main source for the Mac Allister story is Spanish rumourmongers Fichajes, who print an awful lot of stories which don’t resolve into real transfer deals. We wouldn’t panic too much, were we Liverpool fans.
