Coventry City fans appear resigned to losing Milan van Ewijk this summer following the arrival of Kaine Kesler-Hayden from Aston Villa.
Although the Sky Blues ideally need two recognised right-backs to be competing for the defensive berth, speculation about the Dutchman’s departure gathered pace this week when he switched agents, signing up with the high profile CAA Stellar group agency that looks after players including the likes of Manchester City’s Jack Grealish, Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate, Chelsea’s Liam Delap and former Sky Blues midfielder Gustavo Hamer.
That comes on top of renewed links with interest from Fulham, while Galatasaray and Everton have also been reported to be admirers of the attacking full-back – one of City’s more saleable assets.
But while fans would dearly love to see both Van Ewijk and Kesler-Hayden battle it out for the shirt next term, many would be comfortable with a sale as long as the club get a decent return on the player who cost a reported £3.4m from SC Heerenveen in 2023.
Here’s what supporters have been saying in the wake of the latest development:
Neil Wood: It is what it is. Get a good price and wish him well if it happens . Bought the replacement already would just need to find a young rb to act as cover.
Avi: At least we have KKH early doors so no panic. We should get a decent fee to re-invest and bring in a few more marquee signings. It’s all part of the model as the squad gets more and more valuable.
James Hawker: At least for once we have been proactive instead of reactive. Losing Hamer and no replacing him properly first killed us if you know you’re going to lose someone you replace them first with someone of at least nearly comparable talent. He’s a great player but if he does he goes we have KKH now and selling him will bring in money, at the end of the day this is our model and it’s working so stick to it.

Chris: Love Milan but if he don’t want to be here he needs to be moved on we need players fully committed to what we what to do we wish him well.
Gibbo: It was inevitable that MVE was going to leave as soon as we signed KKH, which I’m OK with as long as a good fee is incoming to rebuild the defence! A quality left CB and RB cover is a minimum we require, and I’ll be disappointed if the club has not identified these areas!
Llewcalon: I think he’s going. Get an up-and-coming lad at RB who can cover and learn from KKH and reinvest the money on another position and that’ll do us nicely.
IamCovJase: Love MVE but anybody who doesn’t want to be here has to be moved on, quickly, for the best price possible.
Scotty: He’s on his way, shame, great talent, and a pleasure to watch. Sadly, teams like the sky blues can only improve players and then sell them on when bigger clubs come in.
RickGreen: MVE is on his way. Not what most Coventry want, I understand, but let’s hope for a very good fee.
Adrianjm64: The agent wants his fee asap and he knows he can probably get 2 good moves for the player. MVE is 25 so his agent will look to get things moving very soon. But you need a club prepared to buy the player and pay a good fee or he goes nowhere.
TimG: Good age for him to maximise his fee and salary potential. Yes sad but equally we didn’t go up so he should go with all our best wishes. He will do well at Fulham or wherever he ends up.
