Villa News Speaking to Bryan King

John McGinn’s Aston Villa future has come under unexpected scrutiny over the last few days.
The Scottish international is the club captain of the B6 outfit and has been a hugely important player for them over the years, but it now looks as though he could depart this summer.
Villa are understood to be facing interest from Everton in McGinn, who has two years remaining on his current contract at Villa Park.
The midfielder has been an influential figure in the Villans’ rise back into European contention, and it would be a huge blow for them if they did lose him, especially if he joined a Premier League rival.

‘Villa to sell McGinn if Everton make a strong offer’
Everton’s chase of McGinn has quickly gathered pace in the last few days, and at present, Villa seem very reluctant to allow their skipper to leave.
He plays a vital role for Unai Emery in the middle of the park, and would not be an easy man to replace, particularly with the level of influence that he carries among the rest of the squad.

However, ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – believes that the second city outfit could be ready to sell McGinn this summer, providing they receive an acceptable bid from the Toffees.
“This is a player I’d imagine David Moyes would be interested in,” King said.
“He reminds me of a Leon Osman, who was central to Moyes during his first spell with Everton. McGinn comes into that category for me.
“I think if a satisfactory offer were made, Villa would be prepared to sell McGinn. He’s 30 now, two years left on his contract. If they wait any longer, his value will decrease.
“He had a good season; this is probably the right time to move on.”

Villa can’t afford to lose McGinn
Villa’s season ended frustratingly as they narrowly missed out on qualification for the UEFA Champions League, and they won’t want to lose any of their key players as they aim to go one better this term.
Emery will be desperate to bring in upgrades in a few key areas of the squad to bridge the gap to the top clubs, and losing a man of McGinn’s quality would provide a major setback to their summer business.

McGinn’s Villa stats
The 30-year-old has now made 280 competitive appearances for Villa, and there have been few in recent years who have shown as much passion in the famous Claret and Blue.
Throw in the fact that McGinn also provides genuine top-level quality, and he is arguably the complete Premier League midfielder.
Monchi and Co. would surely back themselves to find a capable replacement if he did depart, but they will be desperately hoping that it won’t come to that.
