Report: Deal agreed and medical booked as Leeds and Spurs target Kyle Walker-Peters closes in on next move

Kyle Walker-Peters has been linked with Leeds United throughout 2025. And now it’s been revealed where the flying full-back is heading next.

Since the turn of the year, Kyle Walker-Peters has been a target for Leeds United, whose full-back department was bound to need addressing in this summer’s transfer window.

Junior Firpo is joining Real Betis on a free transfer, but the Whites seem to have replaced him directly after announcing the signing of Gabriel Gudmundsson from Lille in a £10million deal.

There’s also Sam Byram who’s signed a new contract with the club, along with the likes of Jayden Bogle and Isaac Schmidt, so the full-back department isn’t looking as pressing a priority as it did a week or so ago.

But another name, and one like Walker-Peters who can operate on both flanks still seems necessary, if not vital for Daniel Farke this summer. But Leeds United have faced competition in the race to sign Walker-Peters.

The likes of former club Spurs and Everton have also been linked. But the 28-year-old, who’s now a free agent after leaving Southampton, is headed for Turkey.

Kyle Walker-Peters agrees Turkey move amid Leeds United transfer rumours

Multiple outlets in Turkey are now reporting that Walker-Peters has agreed a move to Besiktas. Turkiye Gazetesi for one report that an agreement has been reached between Walker-Peters and Besiktas and that the player ‘will arrive in Istanbul today’ (July 12th) for his medical, before joining up with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team for their pre-season camp in Austria.

Leeds and Besiktas have been involved in several transfer headlines already this summer: both clubs wanted to sign Bright Osayi-Samuel who’s now joined Birmingham City on a free transfer, and Besiktas won the race to sign Tammy Abraham on loan from Roma, despite him being linked with a move to Elland Road.

Elsewhere, Leeds United have been linked with Semih Kilicsoy at Besiktas, though he has interest from Premier League rivals Aston Villa, and also from Dutch side FC Utrecht.

Which full-backs are linked with Leeds United after Gabriel Gudmundsson arrival?

Gudmundsson is a left-back, whereas Walker-Peters is predominantly a right-back. Expect Farke to look into signing at least one more right-back this summer, or ideally someone who can play on either flank.

That someone could yet be Vladimir Coufal. Leeds United have been strongly linked with Coufal who also counts Wolves and Everton among his suitors, following his release at West Ham.

Coufal’s agent says he’s weighing up his options right now and after missing out on Walker-Peters, Farke could up his interest in Coufal who is mainly a right-back.

After signing Gudmundsson though, and renewing Byram’s stay, it looks like Leeds United are focusing their immediate attentions on other positions on the pitch: mainly on the wing with a bid on the table for Jeremie Boga at Nice.
