Everton not moving for defender yet despite him being offered – Roma involved as well

Panathinaikos defender Georgios Vagiannidis has been offered to Everton, but they are not pushing forward with a move as yet.

That’s [according to journalist Sebastião Sousa-Pinto](https://x.com/sebsousapinto/status/1943641707888689195), who reports that the full-back has been offered to Everton and Roma this summer.

A report from Greece earlier today stated that Everton were looking at Vagiannidis as an option after a top-secret scouting mission to observe him had sent back positive reports.

They were reportedly keen on the defender as they bolster David Moyes’ squad this summer, with a deal priced at €15m minimum. The Toffees were presented as competition to Sporting Club de Portugal, were also admirers.

Sousa-Pinto now provides a Portuguese take on the matter, stating that while Vagiannidis has been offered to Everton and Roma, both have declined to make a move for now.

Everton and Roma are both owned by the Friedkin Group and a ‘synergy’ between the two sides has already seen them linked to several of the same players this summer. That now applies to Vagiannidis as well, it would seem.

Sporting, for their part, are said to have the Greek defender on their list but are also looking at other options, such as Juventus’ Alberto Costa.

Vagiannidis then, may have to wait for his move, with none of the current trio of suitors pushing as yet.
