**Word from the camp**

Director of football operations and administration Matt Wild speaking about the work which went into creating the clubโ€™s pre-season training camp in Portugal.

_Picking the perfect venue_

โ€œWe started off months prior to this, trying to find a venue and Vitor was keen to be in his native homeland, in Portugal. So, we did a recce on a couple of venues and liked the one we're at now. Over the last few months, we've made new numerous trips to make sure the venue is as we expect it.

โ€œWe've got a squad of 28 here, and we've got 44 staff. So, it's a big, big operation, so we needed to make sure that the venue could accommodate us. Pitches are another area we need to pay close attention to. This site is good because there's two and a half pitches. We've had grounds staff out here to inspect them and one of our head grounds staff is here working โ€“ there are so many different departments that come together.โ€

_Vitor trusting the process_

โ€œVitor gives us the freedom. We're very lucky that we have an excellent hotel and facility which is private. We have worked together for a few months now and we know what he wants and how he works, and hopefully he'll be happy with the end result.

โ€œEveryone seems in good spirits. Everyone's really keen to get going to. These trips are good because it gives you time not only on the grass, but away from it as well, where they can relax and bond, and not just players, but the staff here.โ€
