The Gunners are looking beyond Eberechi Eze, with Ademola Lookman now emerging as a serious target this summer.
Arteta Targets Attacking Reinforcements
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta is working on a summer overhaul this window.
So far, the Gunners have added Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga this window. But, they are looking for players to sign for the forward roles.
Arsenal has had talks with Crystal Palace regarding Eberechi Eze. They are close to signing Noni Madueke from Chelsea as well. However, the Gunners are planning and keeping options available should something happen with the Eze deal. One of the players on Arteta’s radar is standout winger from Atalanta, Ademola Lookman.
Lookman has had a great run of form last season. At Atalanta, he has showed his pace, skills, and his ability to take players on. That makes him a good option after Eze.
Meanwhile, Eze can play in a more central role. On the other hand, Lookman is a natural threat wide and brings goals and creativity from the wings. He seems to have found his rhythm in Italy.
Lookman Sparks Interest Across Europe
Ademola Lookman’s form in Italy has not gone unnoticed. Clubs are keeping an eye on the forward. Tottenham, Newcastle, West Ham, and even Napoli are keeping tabs on him. The forward was unable to make an impact in England. But, he is showing that he can perform at the top. At around €50m, Lookman also comes cheaper than the Palace star. So, this can make the deal even more appealing.
Whether or not Arsenal move forward with a formal bid, Lookman’s name is now firmly on their shortlist. Arteta is focused on adding sharpness to his attacking line. This summer transfer window could see a few surprise moves from the North London side.
