West Ham United are the ‘most determined’ team to sign Juventus’ Douglas Luiz this summer.
That’s according to Saturday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, who state West Ham are swooping in to sign the midfielder.
Luiz starred for Aston Villa in the Premier League, and that convinced the Serie A side to invest €50m last summer. The Brazil international has endured a difficult debut season at Juve and they’re willing to let him leave in this window.
Graham Potter believes Luiz can regain the form that he showed at Aston Villa and seems keen on bringing him to West Ham. The 27-year-old is eager to get back in the limelight and is ‘tempted by West Ham’, who are ready to find an agreement with the Turin club.
Juve general manager Damien Comolli wants to restructure his side’s midfield and needs to start it by offloading Luiz. It’s not certain the Serie A club will be successful, but Gazzetta state ‘optimism is growing’ because of the Hammers’ interest.
The Italian club have set a €40m price and are open to creative formulas to sanction a move.
Gazzetta state ‘mediation is underway’ for an expensive loan [€10m] with an obligation to buy set at €25-30m if certain set conditions are met.
West Ham haven’t agreed terms yet as they are aiming for a discount. The negotiations are ongoing and with parties in favour of a transfer, there shouldn’t be a problem to find an agreement.
