Liverpool have dominated the transfer headlines this summer, with most of the biggest moves of the window coming from Anfield.
Arne Slot and Richard Hughes have spent close to £200million on bolstering Liverpool’s ranks this summer.
Not only does this make it clear that Liverpool have the intention of retaining the Premier League title this season, but it also shows that they want to make a better name for themselves in the Champions League.
Indeed, there are still a couple of areas within Slot’s first-team squad that could do with upgrading this summer, but without the sale of some players, that won’t be possible.

Players such as Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz have long been linked with an Anfield exit, but, surprisingly, it wasn’t one of those two who turned down a move to the La Liga giants.
Ibrahima Konate turns down £34million move to Atletico Madrid
Over the last week or so, Ibrahima Konate’s Liverpool future has also been up in the air.
The Frenchman only has a year left on his deal, and since he’s already rejected two contract offers from Liverpool, it seems likely that his future will lie away from Anfield.
However, as per a report from Spanish outlet Defensa Central, despite Atletico Madrid making a €40million (£34million) bid for him, Konate has insisted that he ‘is not interested.’

The centre-back seemingly only has eyes for Real Madrid or Liverpool, and if one doesn’t make a strong enough offer, it’ll be the other who acquires his services.
Liverpool should try to sell Ibrahima Konate and sign Marc Guehi
Now that Jarell Quansah has been sold to Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool only have three senior centre-backs among their ranks.
And, while this would arguably be enough for half a season or so, the injury history of Joe Gomez is a major cause for concern.
That is, especially if Liverpool want to be as dominant as they were throughout the 2024-25 campaign.
Several centre-backs have been linked with a Liverpool move this summer, with Marc Guehi being the most exciting.
The Englishman also only has a year left on his current deal but Crystal Palace are still demanding a fee worth around £40million for his services.
And, while this may seem a tad steep, if Liverpool could get close to that amount for Konate, then it would almost feel like a straight swap.

Of course, this doesn’t solve the issue of Gomez’s injury history, but it would at least cement a new centre-back to the role for the next few years.
Only time will tell what the future has in store, but for now, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen.
