Liverpool have been typically busy in the transfer market and there could be more to come with Luis Diaz and Rodrygo still of interest to the Reds

Liverpool were the early birds in the transfer window, making the first and most lavish signings.
Florian Wirtz was brought to Anfield in a record-breaking deal, joining his Bayer Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong at the club following Trent Alexander-Arnold's move to Real Madrid.
Milos Kerkez also joined the Reds from Bournemouth as their spending tipped over £200million, with Giorgi Mamardashvili finally coming aboard from Valencia after a deal was struck last summer. However, the club has also shown some thriftiness, bringing in goalkeepers Freddie Woodman on a freebie and Armin Pecsi from Puskas FC for a reasonable fee.
Departures have seen Liverpool start to recoup some of that hefty outlay. Jarell Quansah was sold to Bayer Leverkusen for a tidy sum, while the Reds managed to get a decent return for Caomhin Kelleher and Nat Phillips from Brentford and West Brom respectively.
But the wheeling and dealing isn't over yet. There are whispers that Arne Slot is on the hunt for a forward and a new defender, while there's ongoing speculation about the futures of Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Ibrahima Konate.
Diaz update
Spanish media outlet SPORT reports that it seems Hansi Flick and Barcelona are ready to 'throw in the towel' in their pursuit of Luis Diaz. The Catalan club, under the guidance of sporting director Deco, have been eyeing up Liverpool's star, who only has two years left on his contract.

However, the La Liga heavyweights are reluctant to meet the proposed €80million (£69million) price tag. It's reported that Anfield bosses aren't keen on striking a deal for the Colombian.
It's suggested that Diaz isn't pushing for the move at this point and while Barcelona have touched base with the player, they haven't made an official approach to Liverpool. Despite interest from Bayern Munich, Barca appear most likely to wait and see if an opportunity presents itself later in the transfer window.
Liverpool's patience
If last summer's quiet transfer activity demonstrated anything, it's that Liverpool are willing to bide their time to make the right moves. This could once again be part of their strategy in securing a new defender.
The position is high on the club's agenda and there's been chatter about a potential move for Crystal Palace ace Marc Guehi. Chronicle Live reports that the England international is prepared to see out the remaining year on his contract.

Given previous suggestions that the former Chelsea academy star favours a move to Anfield over other interested parties, this could work in Liverpool's favour.
Rodrygo meeting
Rodrygo's future could be determined next week with claims that a meeting has been scheduled to discuss his prospects. Real Madrid are open to the Brazilian leaving and are leaving the final decision up to the player.
Rodrygo, 24, is reportedly unenthusiastic about a potential switch to Saudi outfit Al-Nassr, instead preferring to remain in Europe. Arsenal have been consistently linked with the Brazilian, while Liverpool have a long-standing interest.

If Luis Diaz were to leave Anfield, the Reds may rekindle their pursuit of Rodrygo. Former Liverpool player Fernando Morientes believes the Brazilian would thrive in the Premier League.
"But it's true that Rodrygo has Premier League qualities," Morientes stated. "Open games, games with space, games with limited resources where he has to navigate in short spaces, a player with tremendous quality and individual talent that can do both. I'd like to see him in the Premier League, and I'd like to see him at Liverpool to see how he performs in that league."
